Comment:
Borough Officials will attribute all of these embarrassing figures to the fact that Kutztown University is adjacent to the Borough. I attribute it to wild spending by the Borough Council and a lack of leadership by the elected and appointed officials of the Borough and the poor advice from Solicitors Dietrich and Mooney and independent Auditor Long & Barrell Ltd.

The budget for Perkasie is not $5Mill.
The Borough of Kutztown budget is on the Boroughs website.
Your calculations per individual is again, incorrect.
Why don't you consider moving to Perkasie to help them out?

Keep up the good work and don't let the turkey's get you down. You are indeed 100% right. Oh, directly across from where you live on the South side of Main St (where they converted all thoses houses into on huge student housing complex) human waste was pouring out of the sewer line into the street yesterday. I am sure the borough will not do anything about this either. Hell, look at the trash in a lot of people's yards that I know for a fact they even sent certified letters out to telling them to clean them up and STILL no one ever came around to see if they did or they didn't (in fact, they didn't). Look at all the new graffiti in town. They only clean up the areas they are worried about. Same with cleaning up the streets. Main St. is the only street to ever get cleaned. The other street right down from the college has more trash on it than any street in the borough. Oh, and maybe this boro needs more Jr's instead of crooked politicians and wannabees!

Well, Well, My oh My! let the truth be told, Hometown Utilicom has won the Community Leadership award presented by the Association of Local Governments for 2008. How about that!
Even with bobble head leadership by certain elected officials the system continues to be nationally recognized. With or without a business plan or study.
Go figure! so much for poor customer service.

Almost everyone I know who has HU moans and groans about the service. Why do you think most people still have cable and more and more are getting dishes? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Kind of like the trash service in this town. In other words, don't ever buy a new trash can. The boro workers will in NO TIME dent your new cans or break them if they are plastic. One or the other. It's inevitable.

You are right COMCAST 50mB service, fine print -- up to and shared across 64 users, do the math -- Hometown 100Mb. The difference, Hometown does not engage in false advertisement.
Check your prices again, wrong brochure, you are looking at the "other guys".
Satellite TV, you are kidding, right? I have Direct TV and last evening I was trying to watch the World Series, the sound kept going in and out every 10-15 seconds. This is not the first time. Saturday I had three channels that lost signal during the broadcast. I switched from SE because of their content, now I am somewhat sorry I did, but I won't ever go back to SE, customer service is a three day adventure.

Families and Heritage, simple.
The embarrassment brought on this community because of the idiotic behavior is an embarrassment to all families living in this community.
Heritage, the Kutztown History is made up of hard working independent thinking people choosing to control their own destiny, which is why they were the first to install a community sewer system. That is why they chose to become an electric provider and most recently build a telecommunications system to bring advanced services to a community void of these services like most rural communities throughout the U.S. It is the elected representatives from the community that make these decisions. Someone without "homegrown roots" accuses community leaders of being corrupt, falsifying documents and underhanded business, is slapping the faces of the "families" living in this community. The individuals elected and now accused of wrongdoing are their neighbors. There are ways to make a point and ask questions without making unfounded and half assed accusations for the sole purpose of stirring the pot. Here you have a small hardworking community making national headlines because of claims of corruption instead of the advancements and independence and tradition they should be proud of . None of the accusations and claims by Mr Marino can be substantiated, but the press "eats this up" and the entire community suffers making it look like a bunch of country bumpkins. One radio interviewer referred to the Kutztown Community as “The Republic of Kutztown”.
Mr Marino twists and contorts the facts to start fires and has attempted to elevate his claims to a level to prompt investigation. It has not happened, he cannot provide facts to substantiate his claims, this is why there has never been an inquiry. In the end, the community is embarrassed. Letters to the FBI, CIA, Attorney General on and on all signed by Mr Marino along with Kutztown Resident. What would you think if you received continuous letters from the same individual for seven years? The Kutztown embarrassment has a negative impact in places like Harrisburg where community monies are distributed via Grants, what legislator wants to tag their name to a community in turmoil?. The negative and accusations create problems for all the Kutztown families, it is more than a difference of opinion between a single resident, the outlandish continued battering has long term repercussions for the families of this community.
It needs to stop. The community needs to use its energy and focus on continuing to improve the quality of life of all the families in Kutztown. Times are not getting easier, money is getting tighter. Focus should be on growth not bullshit idiotic false claims which places a negative view on the entire community.
Mr Marino has never provided a single document to support his accusations. Obviously higher authorities feel the same or action would surely have taken place.
Stop damaging the community, its families and its heritage of being forward thinking and progressive. Most communities are taxing families to death, Kutztown builds and uses its own services, that’s from its heritage of independence and non-reliance.
