Hometown Utilicom Council Meeting December 3, 2008
To my knowledge there have been no details of the special 12-3-08 HU meeting made public by the Borough. It would be nice if anyone who comments on my blog to fill us in as to what transpired at the meeting. CCG Consulting received $20,000 to produce a Business Plan and Marketing Plan that would allow HU to spend the $1.3 million loan which was approved at the March 2008 Council Meeting. I know some of you that comment were present at the meeting. I would appreciate information from anyone. Thank you. Jerry

Shirley: If you have such a need to know what went on you should have attended. Everything was explained in full . Did`nt your shill explain this to you? Dick Hertz
a basic report was presented suggesting that borough employees do door to door sales on their lunch break. the borough seems to be plowing ahead farther into the realm of private enterprise.
there is this logic: hometown is great because it keeps competitors
rates lower.
should the borough open a boutique, cafe, grocery store?
no one seems to know EXACTLY what the numbers are, but no worries, a special board will be created. we can all rest assured, that as the council continues to develop a high speed fiber network, joining the ranks of AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast, there will be plenty of time left over for the more appropriate functions of municipal government.
The council is not takeing this lightly. It is a very complex question, should we sell HU? Which means that all cable ,internet services will go up,with out a doubt. should we lease it? The marketing was the big down fall, inpart because of the bad press, and some wrong choices. But no one is ripping the boro off on the council. CCG did say that the company was VERY well run. This was not a buiness Plan. It did not cost 20,000. It was more like 17,000 and change, because of what the council wanted CCG to Look at.This money was very well spent, so at least the council knows what to do now. All the number are at the boro CCG did not find it hard to figure out. The 2.8 million taken out of the electric fund was earmarked for the skaters( The computer lines run to each house to read the electric and water meters.) So that had to be spent anyway. This was not done under handed in anyway.
Jerraldine: What`s the matter? Pussy got your tongue? I have just been informed that all those in attendance for the HU meeting will receive free hi-speed internet and full HDTV for 5 years. Oy, such a deal! Harry P. Ness
