Kutztown Contaminated Water Supply February 13, 2009

To the Residents of the Borough of Kutztown,
I myself and many residents in fact food handling businesses in the Borough have never been officially notified to boil their water for drinking. The Borough does not have a procedure in place to notify residents immediately in an emergency such as this.
I have heard that surface water has entered the water system and I would like to know how surface water entered the water system when our water is drawn from deep wells. Borough Officials including the Mayor do not know when this emergency will be over.
I would like to remind every one that the Borough for many years sold about 1 million gallons of water monthly to Wissahicken which helped us draw contaminated ground water from the surrounding areas.
I would also like to point out that in 2000 Maxatawny Township was notified by the Commonwealth to build a sewer treatment plant immediately because the ground water was being contaminated by septic systems and pesticides. At one time the Commonwealth even threatened Township Officials with jail time if they did not comply. To make a long story short the Township was granted a delay by stating they would erect a plant in partnership with the Borough. The County was also going to give a grant for about 4 or 5 hundred dollars for the plant to the partnership.
The plant has been put off and delayed under the leadership of Borough Manager\Treasurers Hill and Vettraino, Council Presidents Ely, Crooker, Mantz, Eidle and Mayor Schwoyer with the cooperation of the many Borough Council Members whose votes were all unanimous. The Borough intentionally sabotaged the venture for personal reasons. The best part of the deal for the Borough was that the Borough did not have to put forth any funds for the project until they decided to use it.
I think the selling of large quantities of water to Wissahicken and not erecting a sewage treatment plant has added to the situation we have now. Presently the Township is developing plans for the sewage treatment plant 9 years after the Commonwealth ordered it built. Most of the blame for not building the plan I lay on the Kutztown Borough Officials. Not only did the contamination situation continue but the partnership also lost 4 or 5 hundred dollars of grant funds. Borough Officials never thought this would come back to haunt them. They were too busy wasting Borough funds on Hometown Utilicom which still loses about $1 million a year and has for at least the last 7 years and cost the Borough at least $12 million startup funds which are not noted anywhere.
I wish Borough Officials would comment on the facts in this post.
Sincerely,
Gennaro A. Marino

Gennaro, you once again have your head stuck up your ass. You are convoluting, distorting, inventing, imagining, conspiring, dreaming, and getting yourself excited and aroused.
People of Kutztown, if you want to learn the real facts, take the time time to attend these meetings and ASK YOUR QUESTIONS, GET YOUR OWN ANSWERS:
Water / Waste Water committee meetings.
Planning Commission Meetings
Community Development Meetings
Telecom Meetings
Finance Meetings.
Don't rely on this Monday Morning Quarterback will get you nowhere.
If you are not interested in knowing the facts, then continue to rely on this rag of nonsense.
Kutztown puts little or no emphasis on a clean, green environment. The wells were contaminated because they are a stones throw from a farmer who has been dumping highly toxic sludge including medical waste on his property in return for $$$ for years.
Oddly, he suddenly stopped doing this even though he resisted for years. Hmmmmm.
Still, the effects will be felt for some time.
Hey Jerry: I bet old uncle Benito would be proud of all your fascist rantings. See you at council meeting on Tuesday. Gary
Hey Marino:
How come the "Professionals" got the story straight you didn't?

DEP Lifts Boil Water Advisory for Kutztown
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has lifted the boil water advisory for customers of the Kutztown Borough Water Authority in Berks County. The advisory had been in effect since Sunday after melting snow resulted in high turbidity levels in the water. Because of that, officials said there was an increased chance the water may contain disease-causing organisms. Borough officials say the problem has been fixed, but they recommend you flush the water lines in your home for a few minutes before consumption.
Oh, I'm sorry boro of Kutztown officials. I thought Kutztown had the best water for miles, according to letters they sent out. Hmm, must be something in the water, for sure! Keep up the "good work" Mr. Mayor. You clearly have them sweating bullets. Also, Ms. Mayor, Kutztown snow removal has been worse this year than any other year in history. Whasup lady? You could not even navigate Main St. without stopping for traffic in the other direction this past "little" snow. AND, how comes none of you making counter- accusations against mr. Marino NEVER have the "guts" to print your birth given names? Again, Mr. Mayor but be totally correct in his accusations. or 20/20 would not mind coming to town.
20/20 should come to town and see this buffoon in action. They wouldn't stay long that's for sure.
Hey Marino:
how come you never print actual documents? You seem to always print YOUR OWN version but never actual documents? Hmmmmm must be something in the water, say!
Snow removal, where the hell is that towny coming from Allentown?
Hey Dr Marino: Is it true you were asked to remove yourself from Weis Market on Thursday?
Just curious if memory serves me right you were asked to remove yourself from a Dunkin Donuts / Baskin Robbins a few years back as well.
So whats with this personality disorder?

Oh Lordy! I might have to shovel my sidewalk. After all I live in Kutztown and they expect me to keep my sidewalk free and clear from snow.
I don't understand it, The Borough should do this, I am way to lazy to get my precious ass off the couch and take care of this myself.
What are the people in Allentown, Lyons, Macungie thinking? I mean to shovel your own sidewalks? come on what is the world coming to?
What a BUNCH OF CRY BABIES!
What did Marino ever do for this town during his dark years of terror as, and I am gagging, as KMayor? He did absolutely nothing except what he is doing now, PISSING AND MOANING AND NOTHING MORE!
Regarding this contaminated posting. The Borough of Kutztown was NOT the only victim of this problem. Other communities had the same problem.
North Whitehall has a High Lead content water problem that has not been resolved for almost a year. Water is delivered to every customer on that system.
A few knuckle heads here in Kutztown have no idea what is happening in the real world. The problem was addressed without it having an effect on the public.
For you few idiots, water to the community is fed from the TANKS WHICH ALREADY HAD FILTERED WATER STORED. The contaminated hour or so of water was being treated before it ever hit the tanks. The tanks have a 3-5 day supply of water before the new water reaches the community. This guy that id's himself as an Engineer of some sort is past his years of knowledge.
This just shows the stupidity of a few that try to start problems for everyone.
Good job Kutztown Water Department. You are appreciated and the identification of the problem in such a short period is amazing to me.
This should be published in the Newspaper so other communities can learn from an effectively run operation
Who knows where to download XRumer 5.0 Palladium?
Help, please. All recommend this program to effectively advertise on the Internet, this is the best program!
