Dear Sir,
Thank you for the article by Michele Park (9-5-09) in which she states the Berks County Commissioners refuse to name a seventh member to the Maxatawny and Kutztown Sewage Plant Authority. This Sewage Treatment Plant was to be built in 2001 and was sabotaged by Borough Manager Keith Hill, Council Presidents Ely, Crooker, Eidle and other Kutztown Borough Officials. Maxatawny Supervisors were told by the State EPA to construct a Plant in 2003 or face jail time and received a delay when they stated they would form a joint venture with Kutztown Borough. Since then Kutztown Borough Officials have intentionally delayed the joint venture in every way possible. At one time the Borough refused to participate in the joint venture although they were told they did not have to finance the plant until they had a need to use it. Commissioner Schwank was sincere in attempting to mediate the joint venture. When she stated the County would name a seventh member the situation wasn’t as it is now. The County Commissioners are correct in not naming a seventh member to complement the 3 members from the Borough and the 3 members of the Township. The seventh member could cast the deciding vote and the County would be the fall guy. The Borough of Kutztown with its $14 million debt and $21 million Budget has plenty of experience and knowledge to handle a partnership in a sewage treatment plant.

What is it people do not understand about you???? You tell it like it is and up-front. No pussy footing around. You call a spade a spade. Wake up everyone. Mr. Mayor has his act together.

I faxed this letter again today because I did not receive a reply.
The Borough Council or Council President Eidle do not refute any of my statements because they know they are true. I want everyone to know I am not going away. I can not believe the borough does not answer and defend themselves.
I celebrated my 80th birthday with a party of 66 family members and friends at Tony's Italian Restaurant in Topton. I want to thank everyone for coming.

I lived in the Borough of kutztown for 17 years. My husband and his family date back to 1767 as to when his family started living in the borough. I now live in Greenwhich township. I lived on Baldy Street and had to put up with getting tickets in front of my own home in the dead of summer. After asking the Borough why they felt it necessary to ticket residential cars, the reply was this wouldn't be fair to the students. My new electric bill should have double due to my house size nearly doubling. In fact it went down considerably. Why? Kutztown Borough "Rapes" its citizens with high prices to cover their loses in the Hometown Utilicom adventure. DUMB!! My water bill was very high back when I lived in Kutztown, now I don't have one. I choose my own garbage company too. (At a lower rate) Kutztown is still a lovely town but the fact is that the borough officials were more interested in paying for the H.U. They allowed more and more building projects for the college that violated the old codes. They even allowed an apartment complex to be built on the protected wet-lands next to the elementary without trying to stop this. (Years before honmetown U. a project was denied on that very spot.) Why? Money for H.U.. I simply had enough. The non-temporary residents began to take a back seat to the greed of the borough. Few people speak up due to their busy lives, as the council members are well aware. Jerry Marino really loves the borough and the council just hated the idea of an "outsider" being in charge. The council didn't want a Mayor with an opinion, they wanted a yes man. Just because someone was not born in the Kutztown Borough doesn't make them love Kutztown any less!! Open up your eyes people. The truth is right here on these pages and the council is laughing at all of its citizens right to the bank. For example, look at Keith Hill, ex-borough manager. He sues the borough for age discrimination and for God's sake they basically re-hire him through Spots, Stevens and McCoy. Now, that's what I call the Good Ole' Boys Club! Service electirc made sure thier rates to the Kutztown residents were lower than Hometown Utilicom. A private company of their magnitude is no way a fair match for the borough. A govenrment agency such as the borough doesn't have the technology to keep up with the changing media at the same rate of a Service Electric. Good luck to you lasting residents. I still frequent all the shops, stores and merchants of the town and always will. Can you say the same for borough employees and council memebers? If they don't visit our local merchants shame on them for working in town. Sincerely, Cindy O'Neil

thank you Cindy.
i think a lot (and i mean A LOT) more kutztown folks are starting to open their eyes to the blunders and stupidity and corruption of the town leaders. because its their money the leaders are taking and wasting.
