Sept, 15, '09 Council Meeting Minutes

Sept. 15, Council Meeting Notes
Page 17672 of the September 15, 2009 Council meeting Minutes states, I quote, “Jack Long of Long Barrell & Co. provided a brief overview of the Borough’s audit report for the year ending December 31, 2008”. The Audit Report for 2008 has not been reviewed by the Borough Council or the Mayor for more than 8 months? Who is checking our finances?
Page 17685 of the minutes states, “A motion was made by Mr. Seyler and seconded by Mr. Gangewere, Resolved, To authorize the appropriate Borough officials to execute an agreement with Berks Products for the fiber optic cable quarry installation project. All in favor except Ms. Bray and Mr. Snyder voted nay. There being a majority in favor, the motion passed”. And then, “A motion was made by Mr. Seyler and seconded by Mr. Gangewere, Resolved, To hire the recommended vendor to install a fiber optic cable on a messenger out to the quarry. All in favor except Mr. Snyder who voted nay. There being a majority in favor, the motion passed. PLEASE NOTE: There are no details, facts or figures mentioned for the installation or the messenger contracts. How much will this cost? Did the Information Technology Director Caruso, who heads Home Town Utilicom, make a presentation? Nepotism is alive and well in Kutztown.
The minutes also show the Council also passed a Resolution, which I think should be an Ordinance, that police officers will pay 5% of their salaries into their Pension Plan every year. I calculate that 5% will come to about $40,000 a year. Why can’t the Borough with a $21 million Budget fund the Pension?
This plainly shows where the priorities of the elected Borough Officials lie. The Borough Council votes to fund the cost and execute the contract of a new preferred HU subscriber outside the Borough after the fiber is installed. Being it is for HU there is no limit to the cost. Hometown Utilicom already loses $1 million a year.
My point is it takes more than eight months to review the Annual Audit. Then the Council votes to have the Police pay into their Pension. The amount paid by the Police will save Borough funds which will find their way into HU.
This is a perfect example of how this Borough is wildly and irresponsibly handling our finances. I predict every fee, electric, water and sewer rates will have to be raised to fund this wild spending and $14 million debt. The Borough Council already made it easy to raise all rates through Resolutions which are easier, faster and cheaper than Ordinances.

Marino you remind of an old toy from the 50's. Remember those little cars with a wind up on the side of the car? Once you wound this up and put it on the floor it would zoom across the carpet into the walls, flip over, spin out, spin on its side, flip again and run until it wound down.

You mislead with your partial facts. Yes you print what you read but you don't include the entire story or all the history, hence you "wind yourself up" and then produce nothing so in the end you "wound down".

Try a new approach like find something that is really wrong and use all the facts. Creating your own version has little to no value.

Marino ... You just do not get it, do you? You can not keep crying wolf and expect to be believed. Sooner or later you will have to publish numbers and figures that make sense to even the most common of laymen. In a previous comment you were accused of blowing smoke. Your only reply to an honest request for an honest answer is to just laugh. Your credibility suffers ever time you make those kind of comments. Come on please ... show us something we can get our teeth into. Sincerely, M. Miller

I agree. Show something that substaniates your staements. Your words are meaningless.

All I keep thinking is, you will not publish anything because it would be fraudulant and you will be held accountable.

Your threats and statements are meaningless. Put some MEAT on the table or move on.

Everything in this blog comes right out of the Sept.15 minutes on the Borough website. Go on the website and click on the Sept 15 Council Meeting Minutes. There is nothing for me to prove, especially to no names.
Why don't you ask the Borough Council, the Mayor, the Borough Manager,ITDirector and the assistant Treasurer if my charges are true.My charges and claims are all true because no one challenges them.Attacking me doesn't change the truth. Where is the no name Borough Official?

Minute Man said...

What you don't seem to understand is this.... Your word means nothing, has no merit, presents no facts. You write partial statements and twist their meaning and then try and pass it off as FACT.

There is nothing to challenge because you present nothing worthwhile to challenge.

Print something to sustantiate your claims.

Reading the minutes you point too only supports the FACT you are misstating the real FACTS.

You know as well as I that you cannot print any document to support your claims because no document exist. This is why you duck and hide and cry "personal attacks". You have earned everything printed. You brought it all on yourself.

Stop fishing I am closer to you than you realize!

Minute Man said...

One more note, your reference to you knowing who this is and ASSumption I am a Borough Official, WHY? because I know you have nothing you can produce to answer your writers request. You only make this ASSumption BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOTHING YOU CAN PRODUCE TO SUPPORT YOUR CLAIMS AND YOU KNOW THE BOROUGH OFFICIALS KNOW THIS AS WELL.

YOU HAVE NOTHING AND THAT IS WHY THESE BOROUGH OFFICIALS HAVE NO REASON TO RESPOND. They have no reason to produce what they don't have and NEITHER CAN YOU.

This is Also why you make the ASSumption I am a Borough Official because I know you have NOTHING TO PRODUCE. All the request by writers for you to produce something, will NEVER SEE A DOCUMENT OR SHRED OF EVIDENCE.

Stop Fishing, I am right in front of you

Sound like the current council and other leaders. Nov 3rd should be interesting. everyone in ward 1 vote for bray! (or write Mr. Mayor in)

Councilwoman Amy Bray resigned from the Council and was too late to remove her name from the ballot. Vote for Derrick Mace only and not Mr. Eidle because if Ms. Bray receives more votes than Mr. Mace she will then resign and the Council will appoint another one of their cronies.

Irresponsible to elect people with ADGENDAS said...

Vote irresponsibly: vote for Mace and write in Marino.
.
We need a Marino supporter to join Council and a crazy as Mayor once again. the immediate response if Marino was to be elected Mayor, The Borough's underwriter of Liability Insurance Company would double the rate and make it unaffordable for the Borough.
.
Ever wonder why Marino does not run for a Council seat? ANSWERS : you have to make decisions. You have to participate and attend committee meetings, you have to accept responsibility.
.
The position of Mayor is nothing but a lame duck position. That's why he favors that position over Council.
.
Write in Marino for Mayor. That election coupled with Mace will truly turn Kutztown into a Reading, Allentown. If you want your taxes to more than dounle, and remember taxes never go down and you have no control like you have with utilities, then vote for these two.
.
Right now you are in control and can at least control your in home expense by altering your utility and telecommunications use. TAXES, the bill comes due and you have to pay it and you are not in any way in control of what you pay.
.
Interesting why Marino does not explain why Bray quit Council isn't it? To embarrassing for him and a couple other supporters.
.
Fortunately there are people in Kutztown that know who and what is real and who and what is not.
.
It's no secret, allot of people running for elected seats have personal and hidden agendas, once they are elected and start to learn the process and rules involved, they begin to understand how little they can do. This is why some choose to resign while their term is not over, its not what they expected. They realize they cannot change the world. All of the sudden there are laws, rules, and Government process's which must first be adhered to.
.
Its a different world once you take that oath and all of the sudden you are accountable, responsible, and can lose everything if you think you can bypass the laws of Government.
.
Perfect reason why good people will not run for an elected seat, MARINO. Why would you want to deal with this type of resident day in and day out? Always, complaining, criticizing, and never offering real solutions.
.
You are damned if you do and damned if you don't. Every action is wrong.
.
Good Luck to those wishing to stay in the game, its not worth the pennies paid. Take it from someone that learned the hard way. You will lose friends, you will lose business, you will be the enemy to a few and a hero to a few. You are right and you are wrong.

Mr. Marino: I have read over the Sept. 15th minutes. I can tell you that they do not say HU is losing a million dollars a year. So i ask you once again to show proof of your allegations. I would also be interested to hear why you think you only received 36 votes in the last election. Did HU rig the outcome? M. Miller

Conservative Shit

Tea Parties . Rush Limbaugh . Anarchy. all the same.

Nothing but Cocaine Heads, people without rules to live by.

If you are so sold on this, move to Russia!

All the more reason why the people need to stand up Tuesday and keep these fruit cakes out. They are all talk and should stay in their closet sipping their "Coked up Tea".

Over throw the Tea Party said...

Mr conservative. typical of a Marino supporter and now a "tea Party" cronie.

No recommendations? Only vote them all out.

This is typical response of individuals who's brains have been burned out by drugs and alcohol.

conservative said...

yeah, conservatives are 'individuals who's brains have been burned out by drugs and alcohol'?! where do you get off?

and move to Russia? HU and the mini socialist commune that the council wants to turn Kutztown into is completely based on Russia's failed system. ie. one provider (the government) providing all services; while being fearful of honest competition and transarency.
to anyone who supports the council and HU, i seriously implore YOU to move to Russia circa 1979. (and learn some basic history and economics while you are at it.)

there's an incredible feeling of distrust directed toward the council members in kutztown. not many kutztown folks sincerely believe they are any good. just take a quick look around kutztown. its not hard to see why.

The People Should have CHOICE! said...

Uh Huh. So the fact that Hometown is a voluntary choice service and over 1/2 the community directly has the service while the other 1/2 reap the benefit of competition means nothing to you "Mr Conservative"?

Your world of "HONEST COMPETITION" What world are you living in? Cable Television is (was) a monopoly everywhere in PA except Kutztown, telephone was until deregulation - Yes, forced by the government. Power Providers, where do you see multiple power providers in ANY community.

The world of MONOPLIES you wish to live in is coming to an end and THE PEOPLE are BUILDING THEIR OWN SERVICES, AND RUN THEM FOR THEIR OWN USE. Communities wishing to control their OWN DESTINY, this is the future. RELIANCE on taxes, ONLY THE RICH can afford to talk like you.

When you can't pay for your childs health care, When you can't pay to put a decent meal on the table in your home, when your RICH world comes to an end, let's see how fast you RUN TO THE GOVERNMENT TO BAIL YOU OUT!

You people offer nothing but complaints, never a solution. Your easy out, TAX THE PEOPLE TO DEATH.

Better yet, let the monopolies control your destiny. PPL is offering a FINANCE PACKAGE, they will own the bulk of homes within 10 years. Great World you are promoting.

Have you ever talked to a child that goes to bed hungry or sick? You should, you might have an awackening.

A savings of any sort to some homes means more than your wasted words of "conservative thinking"

Down with the Tea-Party mentality.

The Goverment did not create the economic hardships of today. THE SYSTEM OF PROFIT AND EXCESSIVE PROFITS -- For simpletons - GREED!

GREED IS NOT GOOD!

Yeah Marino: Explain why you only received 36 votes in the last mayoral election? The most lop sided loss in Pa. mayoral election history!altestoo

re: 36 votes
GW Bush won 2 terms and got a lot of votes too! does that mean he was the best presidential choice?
and Nixon was also re-elected...

Anonymous said...

Oooooooooh! Do i smell a liberal leftist here? Comparing Bush and Nixon in the same sentence with Marino? One big difference. Those were national elections. Marino was in a local small town election where everyone knows everyone else, and received only 36 votes. This after he was heard boasting many times prior that he would win in a land slide. He lost on a blitzkrieg of voter discontent!

The People have spoken said...

Very interesting election this past week. A few keynotes :

1 - Amy Bray's support, even with a newspaper article indicating she is not interested.
2 - Milt Kern receiving more votes for Mayor than Marino (5 to 1), go figure!
3 - Mayor Green, over 109 "No confidence Votes" (For those of you not sure what this is, these are voters NOT casting a vote for Mayor while voting for others) Speaks loud and clear. She should resign.
4 - Mac Eidle beat them all, Hmmmmm.

So Marino, I guess the "Tea-Party" flopped, what happened, the big rabbit not show?
